“We just returned from eight days at the new Quintess, LRW home,
Hacienda Azul, in the Dominican Republic. Following our new tradition of
giving Quintess, LRW trips (with us!) as Christmas presents for our
adult kids, we were joined by our adult daughter and son-in-law and
their two girls (6 and 8), as well as our fifteen-year-old daughter.

Our flight from Atlanta arrived at the charming, thatched-roof Punta
Cana airport and we were met on the tarmac by a lady who whisked us
through customs, supervised baggage claim, and led us to the van that
delivered us ten minutes later to the home.

The house sits on perhaps the best lot in the Punta Cana Golf Club
community, probably the closest to both the beach and to the clubhouse
with its pool, spa, two restaurants, and beach services. The house was
perfect for the seven of us, with four large bedrooms, each with an
oversize bathroom. The floor plan is exciting and different, with no
indoor halls or stairways.

This was our first time to the Dominican Republic, and we instantly fell
in love with it, though we saw very little beyond a golf-cart drive from
the house. Nelson, our very knowledgeable and most gracious Destination
Host, did arrange for a large luxury SUV to tour us around the nearby
and partially-completed Cap Cana resort. Nelson also arranged a car to
take us to Bavaro, perhaps 20 minutes away, where we boarded a catamaran
he chartered for a half-day of snorkeling and sailing the coastline.

Otherwise, we were very happy to use the home’s two electric golf carts
as our means of transportation. My son-in-law and I enjoyed two rounds
of golf on the gorgeous P.B. Dye-designed Punta Cana course (the house
is separated from the beach only by the ninth fairway and the club
house). The three girls spent most of their waking hours in the water:
in the ocean or the pools at the house, the club, and the Punta Cana
Resort. The adult ladies raved about the Six Senses Spa at the
clubhouse. I think all of us would agree though that the highlight of
the trip was our adventure hike through the jungles of the resort’s
600-acre ecological preserve, where we found several large freshwater
natural springs as clear as any water we have ever seen. Congratulations
for finding this home and making it available to us and our fellow
Quintess, LRW Members!” Members Gregg and Terre Marshall, Niwot, CO
